    Local Area

The inviting coastal village of Creetown is perhaps best known for its country music festival and as the setting for the cult film, The Wicker Man (there’s a 12 ft high model of him among many other fascinating exhibits in the Creetown Heritage Museum). And there’s a magical thrill in visiting a castle you can only by reach by boat. Threave Castle sits on a small island in the River Dee, and in another part of this great estate, Threave Gardens should please keen gardeners - both are easily accessible from our holiday parks in Kirkcudbrightshire.

Fabulous comfortable caravan with central heating which we really needed as the weather was unexpectedly cold even though it was May!

A great quiet park with wonderful wildlife at your doorstep. We saw woodpeckers, red squirrels, rabbits and lots of other birds including nuthatches, all from the caravan window. the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was well appointed. It was very clean and had lots of space for our family of 4, even a walk in wardrobe! We stayed in a gold 3 bed caravan. On arrival we had milk, coffee tea and biscuits provided and also washing up liquid, dishclothes and washing up brush. Even candles and matches were in the caravan in case of a power cut. The surrounding area was beautiful. Unspoilt beaches with lots of rockpools for the children to explore. The Galloway forest is a delight with lots of things to see. We enjoyed a truly relaxing week with wonderful scenery and lots of wildlife.

Accommodation was 1st class, lovely quiet relaxing weekend, within driving distance of local towns. Would highly recommend this accommodation and park to others. We travelled with a toddler and due to the decking being fenced off we were able to let her run about and know that she could not get away. Brilliant weekend had by all and can't wait to go back.

The best park we have ever been to, and we have been to quite a few over the years - you can see why David Bellamy recommended it! The little touches that the park owner provides, ie bedding, towels, tea/coffee/milk for your first cuppa were very welcome. The siting of each caravan/lodge has been considered thoughtfully. If only we lived a little nearer we would buy a caravan at Kippford!

The site is an ideal location to tour around the local area. Lots of easily accessed walks from the site. Quiet and peaceful location with the added bonus of on site red squirrels. Great value for money.

Kippford is a fantastic holiday park. Beautiful location, caravans and lodges are on a hill side, hidden behind trees, bushes etc so there appear to be very few of them, and the beaches, and places of interest are quiet, beautiful and unspoilt. No swimming pool or evening entertainment - just hills and trees! Fabulous!
