From the A5 motorway take the exit sign-posted for Herbolzheim.

Follow yellow non-motorway signs for 'Freiburg'.

When you reach Herbolzheim, turn right at the T-junction and drive through the village.

As you leave the village, take the left turning opposite the petrol station sign-posted 'Schwimmbad'.

Follow this road for 400m passing a large supermarket on your right and turn left towards the swimming pool.

Take the fork to the left of the swimming pool and the campsite is up the hill on the right-hand side.

 

Local Area

Europa Park
This is the largest theme park in southern Germany with rides and shows based on several European countries. A spectacular day out with a great selection of rollercoasters and smaller rides for the whole family. Landscaped gardens and good quality restaurants add to the experience.


Steinwasen Park
A great wildlife park for families with plenty of activities including an 800m toboggan route, also flight simulator, Ice world and a 218 metre rope bridge


Bergwelt Schauinsland (cable car)
Take a ride on Germany's longest cable-car ride, at 3.60km, to the summit of the mountain (1284m). Warm clothing needs to be worn.


Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg
The château dominates the surrounding landscape at an altitude of 700 meters. Founded in the 12th Century and restored at the beginning of the 20th century. Information supplied in various languages to supplement the visit.


Glass blowing factory
A glass blowing factory where the visitor can blow his or her own piece of souvenir glass. See how the glass is formed and watch it transform into a beautiful ornament. Engraving can also be observed. A small museum at the factory takes you through the 2000 year history of the glass maker


Schwarzald Zoo
A large zoo (50,000 sq meters) with a varied selection of animals living in natural environments with opportunities to watch at feeding times


Planetarium de Freiburg
A good planetarium with a number of exhibitions and telescopes used through the ages


Wine Route
Sample the crisp, fruity Alsatian white wines produced on the foothills of the Vosges, along the well signposted wine route.


Black Forest open air museum
Experience the Black Forest of the 16th to 20th Century. As you walk through this open air museum you will experience 400 years of Black Forest history. The watermill is of particular interest


Oberrheinische Narrenschau (Costume) Museum
Masks and costumes, which give a lively insight into the German carnivals


Schwarzwalder Trachtenmuseum
A collection of costumes, which are particular to the Black Forest, opened in 1980, it is housed in a former abbey.
