Lodges: The Barn is an immaculately presented single-storey cottage situated in superb open countryside in the midst of the Sutherland hills. The main living area is open-plan, with a warm welcoming lounge area with deep leather sofas and a lovely wood-burning stove as a focal point. The kitchen / dining area is bright and modern and very well-equipped. This superb room enjoys stunning views across open countryside to the Sutherland hills beyond. There are two large bedrooms (with the same spectacular views) both beautifully presented with colour-coordinated soft furnishings and a good sized shower room. Situated in a quiet lane, The Barn offers peace and tranquillity in a quiet rural yet accessible location. The attractive small town of Lairg is just 2 miles away. Set on the side of Loch Shin, it has a good selection of small shops, restaurants, pub and café. There is also a fascinating visitors centre and lovely walks by the side of the loch. The local area is home to an incredible array of wildlife, such as deer, otter and pine martins as well as a vast array of birds, including visiting osprey, golden eagles and buzzards. The area is also renowned for its outdoor pursuits. Spectacular mountain bike trails offer easy routes for beginners as well as extremely challenging ones for experienced riders and all will appreciate the amazing views from the top. Fishing is second to none, with accessibility to some of the most prolific salmon rivers available by day ticket to visitors. Non-anglers will also be enchanted by a visit to the Falls of Shin. Just 10 minutes drive away; it is one of the few places to watch wild salmon close at hand as they leap up the dramatic falls. Golf, sailing, canoeing, riding, climbing, hill and forest walking are all available in the region. The Barn is ideally located for exploring the whole of the region. Heading across to the west coast, breathtaking mountains are interspersed with lochs and rivers before reaching the crystal clear waters and the white shell sand bays of the Atlantic sea. To the south lies Inverness, the Capital city of the Highlands, which is within an hours drive away. Closer to home a visit Royal Dornoch is a must, with its beautiful sandstone Cathedral, championship golf course and award winning sandy beach. |

Lodges: This delightful cottage stands at the very centre of the Highlands, 40 minutes by car from the east and west coasts, and is an ideal choice for exploring this spectacular area. Outdoor activities include walking, fishing and shooting, canoeing, mountain biking and golf. Places of interest to visit include Royal Dornoch with its historic cathedral and quality shopping, the salmon leap at Falls of Shin Visitor Centre or the award-winning beaches of either coast. The village has a shop/PO/off licence and a hotel offering meals and takeaways whilst Lairg ( 8 miles ) has further shopping and eating choices.Tucked away in the village, this single storey cottage stands in a charming garden with large pond designed to attract wildlife - watch the birds and perhaps even see pine martens from the comfort of the sun lounge which has spectacular views. The cottage is well presented, warm, homely and comfortable and all on one level after one small entrance step.2 double bedrooms with w.h.b. and 1 room with bunk beds (travel cot available); living room with wood-burning stove, sun lounge with dining table, well-equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms (one with bath and shower), utility room with space for sports gear. Cooking by electricity, oil-fired central heating plus wood-burning stove. Fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, dishwasher, television, video, DVD / CD player. Bed linen and towels are provided. |
