    Local Area

With its easy rolling hills and beautiful coastline, the lovely country in the far western reaches of the ancient district of Galloway is perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers who choose our holiday parks in Wigtownshire.

This is a landscape steeped in ancient religion and early Christianity – make time to visit the mystical Torhouse Bronze Age stone circle and the ‘Wren’s Egg’ standing stones near Monreith – easily accessible from our holiday parks in Wigtownshire.

And the bay where the saint is said to have first set foot in Scotland is where you’ll find St Ninian’s Cave. The chapel dedicated to the saint lies in the Isle of Whithorn, a gorgeous little village lying at the southern tip of The Machars. No longer an island, it still boasts a very picturesque working harbour.

We have stayed here twice in the last four weeks. The caravan was immaculate, the park spotless, and the staff are very helpful - we will definitely be back!

We have just returned from our holiday and would like to say that we had a great time - the area was perfect and the park was beautiful. The owners could not have been more helpful, so much so that we asked to stay another night! If you want to relax then this is the place to go!

You cater for dogs, caravans are fantastic, staff friendly and helpful, also take the time to talk to you. Your brochures are clear and helpful and the staff I've talked to on the phone are kind, well mannered and very friendly.

The cabin was in excellent condition and furnished to a really high standard. We ate in all week and wanted for nothing. The location was peaceful, no disturbance except an odd "moo" from the cows next door. Overall an excellent site.

This Holiday Park is extremely well described. Very calm and peaceful. Plenty of space between vans and lodges, with good car parking outside. A very safe environment for children and space for them to run around. The van (Merrick) was large, modern and in very good order. Everything was extremely clean and fresh. Other facilities on the site were clean and usable. Overal I would highly recommend this park. I'd definitely consider a holiday there again.

Well located site, central to most places of interest. Plenty to do, or nothing to do, it's entirely up to you, a peaceful relaxing place to be.

The site (and cabins) were excellent, especially for walks and very peaceful being about a mile and a half from the nearest village.

This was a wonderful holiday for a break away, straight from the meet and greet from the owner, we were made to feel so very welcome. We where advised of where we could go to eat, then we where escorted to our caravan, which was a nice touch, and saw, it was a lovely modern caravan, very clean and warming. The accommodation had all the essentials and a few more added in. The park itself was very quaint and had a wonderful play area which kept my two boys happy, and in doing so kept my other half and I happy. I will be going back at some point again in the near future. It is located further back from the coast than I had first thought, but still in a wonderful location, granting easy access to popular locations close by.

I chose this holiday park as it was described as guaranteed peace and quiet for all. Guess what, that is exactly what we got. A great place to de stress.

Whitecairn is set in beautiful countryside with views over Luce bay. There is a large play park which my young children thoroughly enjoyed playing in. Our caravan overlooked this park which meant we could keep the children within sight at all times. The accommodation was spotless and the van was very roomy - not at all cramped in any way. Another selling point for this holiday was the people who we met throughout the duration of the break - very friendly with nothing being too much of a problem. Would highly recommend this.

We have just returned from 4 nights with my mother, 3 children (5,7 and 9) and a dog, and we all had a great time! The weather was favourable but the park was in a very central location for the west of the region. We visited Mull of Galloway lighthouse; Port Patrick; Wigton; Stranraer; and Creetown to name but a few. We went to beaches, harbours, rocks and forests - very varied and great fun. We went swimming in the Ryan Centre (Stranraer), it is acually cheaper and of course much bigger than the sister pool, and being only 10 miles away was no hardship to go to. The caravan itself was in a spacious position on the park, with hardstanding for the car which makes a difference on a wet day. It was of an extremely high standard - fresh, clean and it had everything you need. The staff were friendly and the park was peaceful. I highly recommend this area and this site.

Our holiday was just what we wanted a lovely relaxing holiday for us and our dog. The area had lovely walking in Galloway forest and the coastal Port Patrick.

The perfect location for touring this area of Scotland. I love Hoseasons holidays as they cater for pets and it is great taking your dog on holiday!

We had a wonderful holiday. The accommodation was fantastic and the park was lovely and quiet. The kids had a great time and met new friends from the minute we got there, and the caravan was spotless and extremely comfortable. The location of the park allowed us to visit the surrounding area easily - you couldn't have improved the holiday at all!
