    Local Area

Famed for its rugged coastline, lovely beaches, forests and wild moorland as much as for its ancient castles and charming little towns, this corner of South West Scotland provides a delightful backdrop to our holiday lodges in Kirkcudbrightshire.

The inviting coastal village of Creetown is perhaps best known for its country music festival and as the setting for the cult film, The Wicker Man (there’s a 12 ft high model of him among many other fascinating exhibits in the Creetown Heritage Museum).

And there’s a magical thrill in visiting a castle you can only by reach by boat. Threave Castle sits on a small island in the River Dee, and in another part of this great estate, Threave Gardens should please keen gardeners – both are easily accessible from our holiday lodges in Kirkcudbrightshire.

Lovely quiet peaceful location, ideal if you have a dog and like to walk. Lodge was very spacious, clean and well equipped. Lodges were situated in lots of ground and well spaced out unlike many other parks.

We had an excellent time here. The lodges were clean, spacious, well equipped and fantastic value for money. The location is very peaceful with lots of good walking trails and a variety of wildlife outside your door. The kids enjoyed the freedom of being able to run around and explore the woods, garden areas and streams. We were fortunate enough to have a night of clear skies and enjoyed the Dark Skies park experience.

Ideal location if you need to get away from it all, been holidaying in S.W.Scotland for over 15 years and this is one of the best places we've stayed at. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and had all we required for our stay. Excellent value, wish we'd found this place sooner!

We were not overlooked by anyone, and didn't feel like we were on a holiday park. The dog loved the freedom and space. Excellent value for money, can't rate this place highly enough!

We have recommended the lodges to many friends who have also enjoyed their stay. Queenshill lodges are so peaceful and quiet with beautiful scenery and wildlife on the doorstep. We have always been very lucky with the weather and there is nothing nicer than a glass on wine on the balcony watching the rabbits and wildlife in the sunshine. The lodges are always clean and the children enjoy the freedom that they can enjoy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Queenshill. The lodges were very good value for money, clean and comfortable, and the surroundings were outstanding with an abundance of wildlife. The highlight of our holiday was to have two deer appear in our back garden - so close to the lodge! We would not hesitate to revisit as there is so much yet to see and explore in the area.

Had a fantastic holiday at Queenshill. Lodge was ideal for the 3 of us and the kids loved the open space to play football and loved the tennis court!! They also liked watching the rabbits when they came out in the evening! Was an ideal base for touring the local area and was a quiet place to relax in away from the bustle of normal life!

Great, central location for access to the many National Park walks & trails and other attractions in the area. Our two dogs absolutely loved it! We'll definitely book again. Loved the walled garden. Wonderful peace and quiet, but not too remote, as all your shopping needs were close by at either Dumfries or Kirkcudbright. We were also very impressed by the facilities at the National Park Visitors' Centres.

High standard accommodation, well decorated very comfortable lodge. Spacious, peaceful, a fantastic location to get away from it all. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but not too far from basic amenities. We loved every minute and can't wait to go back. Thanks to everyone for such a pleasant experience.
