    Local Area

Explore a landscape steeped in history and legend, a diverse country of wide sandy beaches, lush fertile valleys and wooded gorges in Carmarthenshire.

The coast is a major attraction – you’ll find a gorgeous blend of long, family sandy beaches and beautiful estuaries. Carmarthen Bay and Pembrey are popular as is Pendine Sands, famously the setting for many land speed trials.

Panning for gold is just one of the activities on offer at the ancient Roman gold mines at Dolaucothi, and for a truly awe-inspiring natural wonder you can’t beat the Dan-yr-Ogof showcaves on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Millennium Coastal Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Britain, and garden lovers will be drawn to the National Botanic Gardens and their great centrepiece, the glasshouse designed by Sir Norman Foster. And be sure to visit Laugharne Castle, whose romantic ruins inspired Turner’s paintings as well as the work of Dylan Thomas.

Thank you for a delightful short break. The accommodation was excellent as was the welcome from our hosts. We stayed in Cerig Cottage which was a home from home in very peaceful surroundings with the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons within easy striking distance for some wonderful day trips followed by enchanting strolls around the lake.

This was our first holiday with Hoseasons and first trip to Wales. Cerrig Cottage in Garnffrwd Park where we stayed was absolutely fantastic. The surroundings were beautiful, tranquil and picturesque. The cottage itself was immaculate, very clean, warm and very, very cosy. The welcome we received on arrival was very warm. The owner James was incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us advice about local attractions, places of interest, good cycle routes and general information about the area and nearest supermarket etc. We would recommend this accommodation and look forward to returning sometime next year to further explore Wales and the cycle trails.

This short break holiday was everything and more than what we expected. The location was superb, the cleanliness of the log cabin was excellent and the facilities in the cabin was very good with everything you need. I would highly recommend this location as it is near a lot of woodland walks and historic locations, and the owners of the park were very pleasent and helpful.

We have stayed in a few lodges around the counrty and this one was very good and as advertised, the accomodation was very clean and had all that we needed, we could take our dogs which was also a bonus. there are only 2 lodges, (there is also a caravan club site here) we stayed at the Ash lodge overlooking the lovely trout fishing lake, it is a very peaceful place and we are not interested in fishing but you could walk round it (and watch the fish jumping!) it is in a lovely spot. It was about a 10 - 15 minute drive from the end of the M4 through some country lanes. If you like walking it is a good place for the Brecons or as we did visting the Gower which is about 3/4 hour away and has some lovely sandy beaches and walks.

This was a beautiful location, very peaceful. Close by was Tenby with a beautiful beach and Burry port with the millennium coastal path. Cerrig cottage was a welcoming old stone barn, with a log burner for those winter evenings and Jamie was very helpful and made us feel at home.
