Travelling from the south, the location of the holiday park is close to the M6, but well into the Lake District, with good views of Lake Windermere and excellent accommodation, that faced the sun during warm evenings, yet was not overlooked in any way.

The location and setting was perfect, peaceful, secluded and very private yet within easy driving distance of all local amenities. It provided a wonderful opportunity to be at the heart of nature. The accommodation was in excellent condition, very well equipped and was complete with private patio area, parking and barbeque.

We can thoroughly recommend this site. It is quiet and beautifully situated overlooking Windermere. The Lodge was warm and comfortable with all the equipment one could wish for, and the owners were friendly and helpful. There is plenty of space between lodges and we couldn't even see another lodge from our site.

This park is ideal if you are looking for a base for your holiday. It is ideally situated for access to the local towns. The accommodation (Ambleside Retreat) was very clean, tidy and decorated to a high standard and made for a comfortable return after a long day sight-seeing.

The problem of recommending a superb holiday and accommodation to your friends is that when you want to book again the following year everyone else wants the same holiday. I will make sure of an early booking first....

Excellent holiday in peaceful relaxing surroundings over looking the lake. The private outdoor area with the barbeque is spacious and the hot tub is wonderful to return to after walking in the Lakes. The lodge itself is maintained to a high standard and you receive a friendly welcome upon arrival including wine and chocolates. Would definitely recommend.

Accommodation was beautiful, very clean and lovely to come back to after a walk. Perfect location looking over river, very quiet too. Close to Bowness on Windmere and never travelled more than 50 mins to any walks and attractions so good central location. Nice touch with the lodge having it's own barbecue too. Please don't be caught out, make sure you take your own towels. Everything else is provided. Excellent holiday, will definitely be going back.

Avon wood is a beautiful place and very well sited to enjoy the Lake District. The caravan was to a very high standard and everything you needed was provided. It was such a peaceful site but a 5 minute drive got you to Bowness where there are shops, pubs, boat cruises, crazy golf and plenty more things to see. Overall we feel very lucky to have found such a good place on our first visit to the Lakes. We would definitely recommend this site and hope to visit again very soon.
